The Drake Landing Solar Community is a planned community in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada. The community is the first of it's kind in North America to use a technology known as seasonal solar thermal energy storage. The homes are heated by a system that stores solar energy underground during the summer and distributes the energy during the winter for heating needs. Ninety percent of each of the 52 homes heating needs are fulfilled from solar thermal energy.
