Leopardo Construction Selected to Build Greenbuild Chicago 2007 Legacy Project
The City of Chicago and US Green Building Council (USGBC) Chicago Chapter have selected Leopardo Construction as the general contractor for its Greenbuild Chicago 2007 Legacy Project.
INews Imagen conjunction with each of its annual conferences, the USGBC completes a legacy project to support a local non-profit organization that is successfully implementing green building practices and using the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building rating system, the national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
With the 2007 Greenbuild Expo being held in Chicago, this year's Legacy Project is the renovation and expansion of the Chicago Center for Green Technology, a nationally-recognized green building with a Platinum LEED certification. The center helps professionals and property owners learn how green technology is cost-effective and good for people and the environment.
"As an industry-leading advocate of green building practices, we're thrilled to be partnering with the City of Chicago and USGBC Chicago Chapter on this exciting Legacy Project," said Pierre Cowart, vice president and LEED-Accredited Professional at Leopardo Construction.
The LEED-Commercial Interiors project is seeking a Platinum certification, the highest award possible. The interior renovation includes an expansion of the existing Green Building Resource Center to incorporate an additional 2,450 square feet.
"Leopardo is eager to build a LEED Platinum project as our construction experts constantly strive to promote the benefits of green building with our clients, partners and our own employees," said George Tuhowski III, general superintendent at Leopardo Construction and chair of the firm's Green Total Quality Management committee. "Our internal green practices include a variety of recycling, energy conservation, renewable building materials and more."
