Commerce Energy Provides Clean, Affordable, Wind-Generated Electricity to Texas and Maryland
Commerce Energy Group, Inc, a leading US electricity and natural gas marketing company, is now making it easier and more affordable for residential and small-business customers in Texas and Maryland to purchase clean, wind-generated electricity.
Commerce Energy offers electricity completely generated by wind - 100% Wind Clear Choice - or a 50/50 mixture of wind and fossil fuels - 50% Wind Clear Choice. Service plans are available on a one-year, fixed-rate basis. When a customer chooses Clear Choice, wind-generated electricity is purchased and delivered to the grid, thus supporting clean-energy industries.
"We know that many of our customers want to improve the environment by choosing clean energy, but in the past, cost was an issue," said Chief Executive Officer Steven S. Boss. "With Commerce Energy's new Clear Choice clean energy program, we're working with our suppliers to make wind-generated electricity available to our customers at a favorable price, removing cost as a barrier to buying clean energy."
Commerce Energy's clean energy program is certified by Green-e for Maryland customers. Green-e, the nation's leading independent certification and verification program from the Center for Resource Solutions
, conducts audits to ensure consumer purchases of clean energy are verified as actually delivered to the grid. Commerce Energy is aligned with Green-e standards and with the program's ethics and transparency values.
Since 2001, Commerce Energy has taken the initiative to promote clean energy programs. Today, Commerce Energy voluntarily complies with the highest standards in Texas, even though legislative issues have yet to be resolved to allow for actual certification by third-party consumer-protection groups.
"Energy deregulation creates a number of price and product innovations for consumers and small-business owners," said Boss. "Affordable, clean energy is one of those benefits. We believe Clear Choice will help customers realize the full benefits of deregulation and give them yet another reason to switch to Commerce Energy
